Suspended 50 stories up on the outside of the skyscraper, Joey becomes the hostages' only hope, using her military training and window-cleaning skills to navigate the building and confront the terrorists. 

The film also features Clive Owen as the leader of the activist group and Taz Skylar in a pivotal role. Critics have noted Ridley's compelling performance and the film's intense action sequences. The Wall Street Journal described "Cleaner" as a "Die Hard retread," acknowledging its familiar premise but highlighting Ridley's portrayal of Joey as a standout element. 

Similarly, the Houston Chronicle commented that while the thriller isn't life-changing, it's "a heck of a lot of fun," praising the film's pacing and action choreography.

To prepare for the physically demanding role, Ridley underwent rigorous training, performing most of her own stunts, which director Martin Campbell likened to "becoming Spider-Woman." This dedication contributes to the film's authenticity and the intensity of its action sequences.
