The 7 Best New Movies and Shows To Watch June 7-9, 2024

This week, Academy Award-winner Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back in Bad Boys: Ride or Die. The fourth film in their iconic action franchise is the biggest theatrical title of the week as we officially enter the summer movie season.
On the streaming side of things, Glen Powell's crime comedy Hit Man just released on Netflix. The Academy Award-winning Godzilla Minus One also made its way to Netflix (in both the original Japanese and a brand-new English dub). We also have Disney's latest Star Wars title, The Acolyte, with a two-episode premiere. Here are the best new shows and movies to watch this weekend.
'Bad Boys: Ride or Die'
When their late police captain gets linked to drug cartels, wisecracking Miami cops Mike Lowrey (Will Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) embark on a dangerous mission to clear his name. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a fun action film that captures the essence of Michael Bay's work in the early 2000s. Sometimes, the world needs a good popcorn flick, and this film delivers.
Matthew Donato said in his review: On that level, Adil & Bilall deliver the goods. They’ve perfected their Michael Bay impressions, injecting adrenalized energies à la Pain & Gain into Bad Boys gunplay. Cinematographer Robrecht Heyvaert captures the coolness overdrive of action sequences in neon-rave Meow Wolf-like art galleries or abandoned alligator theme parks.
