According to her family, an Alabama lady who was 58 years old passed away earlier this month as a result of a wrench that shattered the glass of the vehicle in which she was traveling.
A single-vehicle incident occurred on the morning of August 8 in the vicinity of the I-65 Southbound off-ramp and West South Boulevard, according to a press statement issued by the Montgomery County Police Department and sent to PEOPLE on Friday, August 30. The press release said that officials arrived to the scene of the crash.
“At the site, contact was established with the passenger, Earlie Harris, 58, from Montgomery, Alabama, who had incurred fatal injuries as a result of debris on the highway. According to the statement released by the police, she was immediately declared passed at the site.
According to a report by WSFA, an NBC station, Harris was traveling to her place of employment on August 8 with her son Cedric. They were on Interstate 65 at the time of the incident.
According to Cedric, a huge wrench was thrown through the glass and hit his mother. He informed the publication that this happened.
“I ducked down and looked up, and my mom was bleeding, and I pulled off the interstate,” he remembered to WSFA. “I pulled off the interstate.”
It was reported to WSFA by Harris’ family that they do not know where the wrench originated from; however, they have a strong suspicion that it may have originated from a vehicle traveling north on the freeway.
Beasley Allen Law Firm, which is representing the family, is offering a reward of $1,000 to the general public for information that will lead to the family’s safe return.
LaBarron Boone, the attorney for the company, was quoted as saying, “It’s something you can’t miss,” according to WSFA. “Someone who was behind it and was out there with high traffic saw the object fall and bounce down the street,” the speaker further said. It did not strike them, and it is possible that they walked on, but it was ultimately responsible for the loss of Ms. Earlie Harris.
Her son told WSFA that she was “caring” and “big on family.” The deceased woman’s family characterized her as a loving mother and grandma. Her son also said that she was “big on family.” As stated in an obituary that was published on the internet, Harris was a native of Montgomery.
“Earlie and I were neighbors and coworkers,” one commenter said on the memorial wall that was included in the obituary announcement. The constant smile that you wore will be missed. Your work ethic was commendable. Prayers are being sent to your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. You will be held together by prayers, and as a family, you should not allow anything to separate you from one another. Keep in mind the affection that she showed to everyone of you.
